The truth is: it may, but there are always alternative options.Most utility suppliers in Australia require customers to undergo a credit check prior to a connection agreement in order to ensure that they'll be able to meet periodic payments. If you've missed payments with other services before, this could impact your status as a riskier customer.Even if you fail a credit check from an energy retailer they may still accept your application if the retailer already served the property before you moved in or if the retailer is the elected supplier for the given postcode.

There should be an elected energy retailer in your postcode that can connect you without being blocked by a credit check.
